Brain injury awareness month day 12! Every day I am reminded of how grateful and fortunate I am to still be here standing ! Every single day I see so many brain injury survivors fighting to exist …. Looking for kindness ….screaming to be heard …… I honestly try and educate and advocate for those who don’t have the courage to use their voice. I truly believe I went through all this and survived to be able to help others learn to be their own advocate and don’t just accept status quo . I was so misunderstood by so many healthcare providers. I knew something was wrong … but did what I was told …until something like this happens to you or a loved one …you are blown away by the lack of compassion and understanding of alternative therapies and treatments. Alternative medicine or the plant was NEVER discussed or offered …. Diet was never talked about …. Other plant medicines were never brought up …. We must empower each other to use our voices and realize just because there is a DR before their name doesn’t mean they have all the answers. The medical system has changed. It’s not so much about caring for patients as it is - how many can we see, how fast can we get them in and out. I was treated as a number most of the time …. Even though I was nurse! Please be kind and help others. You never know what they are struggling with behind closed doors ! You might just be the kindness they need to see today ! #braininjuryawareness #tbisurvivor #tbiawareness #chronicpain #invisibleillness #invisibledisability #yourstorymatters #bethechange #plantmedicine #holistichealth #holistichealing #patientadvocate #patientexperiencp
