For many, incorporating fruit-flavored cannabis gummies into their wellness routines to manage perimenopause and menopause symptoms such as mood swings, insomnia, and hot flashes has become second nature. Now, thanks to a recent Harvard-led study published in the journal Menopause, this practice is gaining medical validation. The study involved 131 women in perimenopause and 127 postmenopausal women, revealing that "Nearly 79% endorsed it to alleviate menopause-related symptoms. Of those, 67% said cannabis helps with sleep disturbance, while 46% reported it helps improve mood and anxiety." While the sample size was 258, the study indicates that further research is warranted, suggesting “promising targets for clinical trials of cannabinoid-based therapies.” This development is encouraging for those enduring severe menopausal symptoms and considering cannabis, especially given the limited research on this topic.
