Being an entrepreneur is hard. One day you’re on top of the world, the next you’re in the shit pit of doom and despair. Which is why we are so cognizant of how we treat our entrepreneur clients. I’m definitely not immune to this. But I have learnt to manage the massive swings a bit better over the years. My advice for those down days when you feel like you’re banging your head against a brick wall… ✅ Check yourself. Ask yourself, what is the worst possible outcome of this situation? Be realistic. It usually isn’t the world ending calamity it initially presents as. ✅ Get out of your space. Go for a coffee with a friend, a walk with your dog, visit a friendly client. ✅ Go to bed. Nope this one isn’t meant to be funny. It is easy to get stuck in a negative thought pattern. Going to sleep gives your brain a chance to reset. ✅ Phone a friend, a mentor or business associate and vent. Let it all out. ✅ If you have to shake it off immediately, go to the washroom. Run the cold water in the sink for a few minutes. Then splash it on your face. A sudden blast of cold can reset your brain in similar ways to sleep. ✅ Eat a snack and drink some water. These tricks have a crippling effect on anxiety. Pay attention to the texture, the flavours, the temperature. These tips work for all people facing stressful situations, not just entrepreneurs. Most people who truly care come across these feelings from time to time and that’s ok! It’s just your passion shining through.
